This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies Lostgamer uses, what each one is for, and how you can control them.
2.Essential cookies
These keep you signed in and keep the site secure. Lostgamer can't work without them, so they don't need your consent. They can't be read by scripts on the page and are only sent to lostgamer.io.
session_token- Purpose
- Keeps you signed in, or ties your games to your guest player if you haven't made an account.
- Lasts
- 30 days from your last visit.
email_verification- Purpose
- Remembers your sign-up while you enter the code we emailed you.
- Lasts
- Until the code expires.
oauth_connection- Purpose
- Protects linking a Twitch, Kick, YouTube or Discord account while you sign in to it.
- Lasts
- 10 minutes.
3.Preferences in your browser
Some choices are kept in your browser's storage rather than with your account, so they work without one. They never leave your device and you can clear them at any time in your browser's settings:
- Guessr's game settings (sound volume and speedrun mode) and the size you've made the guess map.
- On the interactive maps, the places you've marked as found, your filters and recent searches.
- In the map creator, the tips you've closed.
- For the current visit only, the page you came from (for back buttons) and an ongoing duel search.
4.Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people use Lostgamer and which pages and features they use, so we can improve it. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<id> that last up to two years, and Google processes the data on our behalf.
Visitors from the UK, the EU and other places where the law requires it are asked first, in the same consent prompt as advertising. Google Analytics only sets its cookies once you allow storing information on your device, measuring content performance and understanding audiences; until then, or if you refuse, it sets none. Ad-free and Premium players there aren't shown the prompt, so Google Analytics never sets its cookies for them.
You can also opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google's browser add-on.
5.Advertising
Ads keep Lostgamer free. They're served by our ad partner NitroPay, together with the advertising companies it works with, who set their own cookies and use similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see the same one, measure how ads perform, prevent fraud and, with your consent, show ads based on your interests.
Visitors from the UK, the EU and other places where the law requires it are asked for consent when they first arrive, and can choose which purposes and companies to allow. Advertising cookies that need consent are only set if you give it. NitroPay explains its own use of data in its privacy policy.
Players with Ad-free or Premium see no ads, and the ad partner's scripts aren't loaded for them.
6.Payments
When you subscribe or manage your subscription, you're taken to Stripe's own pages, which set the cookies Stripe needs to take payments securely and prevent fraud. Stripe's cookie policy covers them.
7.Your choices
- Use the consent prompt shown on your first visit to accept or refuse analytics and advertising cookies.
- Change your choice at any time with Privacy Settings at the bottom of the site's pages, shown wherever we ask for consent. Withdrawing consent stops those cookies being used from then on, and removes Google Analytics' cookies.
- Delete Lostgamer's cookies in your browser's settings to be asked again, or block them altogether. Blocking essential cookies will sign you out and stop games from working.
